Bavarian Center for Innovative Teaching

The Bavarian Center for Innovative Teaching (BayZiel: Bayerisches Zentrum für Innovative Lehre) is a joint institution of the 17 state-run Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences and Technical Universities (HaWs / THs). The Protestant University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg and the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Munich participate as associate universities with equal rights. With a team of around 20 employees, it supports approximately 6,000 teachers at universities across Bavaria.

Didactics Department

We support instructors in developing their teaching skills – from individual consultations and workshops for beginners to specific and in-depth professional development in higher education didactics in the form of certificate programs. Our offerings are based on scientific findings and are precisely tailored to the needs of  university teaching at Applied Sciences Universities in Bavaria.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Department

Based on application oriented research, we develop evidence based concepts and methods that provide support to teachers in their daily doings. We combine scientific findings with experiences from everyday university life, thereby contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable teaching and learning formats.

Dual cooperative degree and transfer Department

We are a key partner in the development of dual study programs, academic education and entrepreneurship in teaching. We serve as an interface and networking platform between Universities of Applied Sciences and professional associations, chambers and companies, as well as educational consultants, political actors, and prospective students.
